What a story! My goodness... I would have reacted the same way... and so would Ian... he is more of a ninny that way than me. Glad she was alright. I just wanted to snuggle my own tree sloth when I read this.

Ah Steph. The head injury. How well I know it. My son has fallen onto his head more often than I've brushed my teeth. Well, almost. I have a story to share with you.

Here's the short version. My son, then 18 months tripped and fell forehead first into a full brick wall (if that makes sense). I saw it and heard a loud melon crack. He was going in and out of consciousness, there was blood everywhere and I was screaming down the phone to our emergency services to send an ambulance. Which they did. Eventually. I was babysitting my friend's three year old at the time. Both have recovered, although my son has a permanent Harry Potter scar.

Here's the long version: http://myfloats.blogspot.com/2006/04/of-illness-and-other-things_15.html

Since then, he's bashed into walls, tripped up stairs, flown head first into the base of the lounge. It makes me sick with fear and worry. But short of chaining him up (which at times is VERY tempting, let me say), I'm afraid I'm just going to have to grit my teeth and bear it! And you're right. Never buy a second hand high chair!

Oy. A good friend had his baby (2-year-old) fall and whack his noggin pretty good. Enough that the docs did scans and such. I'll save you the details but they had CPS investigate them for a while. All is well now, of course, because it was just a silly accident but it's sooooo scary when it happens.
