Teething
This teething thing is really rough. The toughest part of all is that they start teething sometimes weeks/months before a tooth has any intention of showing its pearly little head. Noah is having a terrible time of it, and I feel so awful for not being able to comfort him more.
He fusses nearly all day. He isn’t eating quite the way he normally does. He wants to nap much more than usual. He isn’t comforted easily. I finally just broke down and gave him some Tylenol today. He was absolutely angelic after that. I know he is teething because he has no other weird symptoms, no fevers. He ravenously tries to put things in his mouth and is relieved by chewing on cold toys. He loves frozen banana slices put into his mesh feeder (this thing is soooo awesome). If you too are going through the teething frenzy, try the mesh feeder~ watermelon, baby cookies, grapes, bananas, peaches, and frozen juice. I pour some apple juice into a ice tray and pop out a few cubes to go into the feeder. Bella STILL uses hers for the juice ice cubes! Yummy frozen treat!
Teething is rougher with some babes, I guess. Austin breezed right through it, even getting his first tooth at 3 months of age. He just drooled like a faucet. Bella was a little grumpy right as the teeth emerged and mostly struggled only with the canine teeth. But Noah? He’s getting hit hard, and I am waiting to see 4 teeth emerge at once any day now the way this is going. But, I see no signs of teeth. Please tell me they are coming soon! Please?
Anyhow, good news is that he is finally sleeping through the night in his own bed. Yes, I have had 5 whole, entire nights of uninterrupted BELLY SLEEP! I forgot I was a belly sleeper until recently. I have either been nursing a baby or pregnant with a baby for nearly 3 years and haven’t had a really awesome belly snooze since then. Yes, it’s the little things that make us mommas so happy.
Lastly, Nooskers, Let’s get those stubborn teeth to come out. Tomorrow at the latest (ha). Push those bad boys out, K? Own ‘em. Boss ‘em. Tell ‘em who the Chief is. You’re The Man, Nooskers! GGRrrr!

And a video of Nooskers showing everyone just how CrAzY he can get when his gums are hurtin’. (Yes, I have lost my voice AGAIN. Vitamin C, Echinacea, Garlic, Emergen-C do nothing for these vocal pipes. Dang-it.)

As a lifetime belly sleeper……
I REALLY envy you right now.
Maybe I could get a hammock and cut a hole where my belly goes, then use the fabric I cut out to make a hammock for the belly. Hmmm……
My boys teethed endlessly, I just wanted to cry.
Oh, I am right there with you! Sam is just miserable. It is bad design, if you ask me! Teething should happen when they are old enough to understand why they are in pain. Even better, teething should not hurt.
i sooooooooo feel you on this one!!!
i’ve decided that Baby Orajel is an absolute Godsend! my little one has been very cranky - but only in the evenings. it usually starts about halfway through her dinner and she fusses until i get her in the bath (because in her world NOTHING ruins the absolute fun and excitement of a bath in her big blow-up duckie tub). then she complains all through pampering and dressing until i get her nursed and asleep. the worst part though is that she’s been waking up around 11 or 11:30 just MISERABLE - the first couple nights it really scared me because it was very unlike her to cry like that and i had no idea what it was - until last night i got desperate and just tried rubbing Baby Orajel on her gums and she got quiet almost INSTANTLY.
I’ll have to try some of your suggestions in the mesh feeder, though - so the evening can be more pleasant!
The teething tablets worked pretty well for Liam, but it sounds like he hasn’t suffered like Noah is. I hate the faucet drool and the faucet nose to match. Ugh!
Great tip on the mesh feeder!
Loved the video. What a stinkin’ cute baby he is! Makes me miss the squishy stage with Liam.
Congrads on the sleep! THAT IS HUGE! I am sooooooo jealous!
Dang, that baby is C.U.T.E!
What a cutie!! Don’t you love when Dad answers with the “ugg” noise back. Sounds like my boys. Thanks for sharing your video.
Hunter doesn’t have any teeth yet either. I keep thinking it will be soon - his nose has been so runny and his eating has gotten funky - but no teeth yet. I have one of the mesh things but I haven’t used it yet. I’m gonna try the bananas today. Thanks for the tip.
Come on NOah, push em out!
He’s such a little cutie. You can just see the pain in his face though. But he toughs it out in this video. He’s a stoic little boy, isn’t he?
