Oops

Check this out, y’all: We have a rule in our house for Austin. No soda with dinner until you have a glass of water first. Last night we were gathering around the dinner table and Austin asked for a pop. I asked him if he had his glass of water yet and he replied that he hadn’t. I told him, “Well, we’ll each ask you a question and if you answer right, you can have a pop without having the water first.” Jeremy went first– “What’s Bella’s middle name?” Of course he got it right. Then it was my turn. The first thing that came to mind was, “When is my birthday?”

Pause.

Pause.

Confusion.

Guess what? He didn’t even know what month my birthday was! No kidding. So I tried not to get hurt (not that I’m that easily offended). I told him my birthday (February 25th), even throwing in that it is only 6 days before his (to help him remember) and then told him he could have his soda. Later that night, I asked him again when my birthday was again.

“Uhhh. Umm. It’s in April, right?”

Ughhh. Kids.

Is that a teenager thing? My teenagers birthday is on Halloween. Mine is in October, and so is my other daughters birthday. My teenager starts talking about her birthday in August but always seems to forget mine and her sisters LOL.

I’ll have to remember that little test for later. I like the water rule… very clever.

He has 2 things working against him. 1) He’s a kid. 2) He’s male.

Oh bless your heart. Things like that do hurt your feelings but then I try to remember that they are children and they just aren’t used to having to remember dates. Izzy can tell you who’s birthday is next…that is her system. Of course she only is concerned with the ones leading up to hers. If you fall after that too bad.
