Peanuts and Jars
Since Bella was teeny tiney, when I would refer to privates, I would call hers and mine a “cricket.” Girls have crickets. I just never even mentioned what boys had.
Well, now that Bella is nearing her 3rd birthday and is as bright and smart as the day is long, I figured it’s probably an ok time to explain the “true” names for privates– both boys and girls. She’s obviously smart enough to observe that Noah’s parts are different looking than her own, and so it was time to at least give things their proper names. Two days ago, I explained things as simply as I could…
“Bella, girls have a v@gin@, and boys have a pen!s.”
“Ohhhhh.”
So today, Bella was watching me change Noah’s diaper. She’s handing me wipes, as always. She says, completely out of the blue,
“Mommy. Boys have peanuts. Girls have jars.”
Peanuts, Pen!s. V@gin@, Jar. It’s all the same…

I’m just curious as to how you came up with the name cricket. Does yours make a chirping sound?
I’m laughing my ass off, TOB! That was good!
That is too funny. My nephews Ben and Jackson have always been taught to use the word penis instead of a name like pee wee, etc. so when Ben, who is so tiny anyway, uses the word with me it is just hard for me not to laugh. The other day while here he had to potty and he yelled “Deana come push my penis down.” I didn’t even know what he meant at first and thought oh no. But his mom said his butt is so small that if he turns loose to tuck it pointed down that he falls in.
But that world coming out of something that sounds like a Hoo just kills me.
When Daws was about 4 he told me that girls peed out of their butts. So I had to explain to him “no pee comes out of a girls vagina”…to which he responded Bagina. I couldn’t help but lol so he kept saying bagina bagina.
Kids say the funniest things don’t they?!
I love peanuts and jars
That is hilarious! Awesome post. I am tempted to post about Liam’s discovery now. 2 weeks ago he named his “Peep” and we continue to think that is pretty funny! Where is your peep, Liam? “Right chair” as he points.
[…] be like 16 weeks! Know what that means? Might get to see whether this little fella is carrying a “peanut” or a “jar”. Something to look forward to!! […]
