Creativity is a brewin’

You probably remember me mentioning that we planned to spend the winter doing arts and crafts to sell– perhaps earning enough money for a nice vacation this summer. I’ve been busy quilting, Jeremy has been crankin’ out some AMAZING paintings! I’m really excited about what we’ve been doing. So far I’ve not made one quilt to sell because I’m busy making them for people I love. But that feels good! Here are a few of the quilts I’ve finished…

Bella’s quilt and pillow set– it’s super soft and fluffy. I used lots of minky fabric! She calls it “Princess Bedding”:

I finished this one for my best friend’s daughter. I was too lazy to unwrap it, but here’s a little glimpse. It came out WONDERFUL!:

This “Little Cowgirl” blanket is going to be one I sell whenever I finish it. Which may be a little while since I’ve got 5 blankets to make for loved ones in the next month…

Here’s another one I’ve not quite finished. It’s an “I spy” blanket for my nephew– his birthday is coming in February. This one is Jeremy’s favorite and he wants me to make one like it for our bed. It’s not prissy enough for my taste (though I love the colors), but I think it’s perfect for a little guy…

And what has Jeremy been doing while the tv and computers and game consoles are powered down?

This!

And this!

These hippos got cut out of my pic and they are my favorite part of the painting, so here’s a zoom:

We are having so much fun! We put the kiddos to bed and then let the creative juices flow! We cancelled our cable subscription and it was the best thing we’ve done in quite some time. We’re now working on a HUGE project in the babies rooms now. It will take another couple of months to finish, but I’ll post pictures as we go. More on that on my next post, but here’s a few pics for now.

We’re making an outer space themed 3-D mural on Noah’s wall in his room. It’s going to take up the whole wall and will have cute little martians, flying saucers, a rocket, and a cratered moon with stars. Inside the martian’s belly, we are applying chalkboard paint so that the kids can color on his belly. On the flying saucer there we will use the magnetic paint to make an area where they can play with magnets. Here’s the beginning…

More to come…

I love the quilts. Bella is a lucky girl to have such beautiful princess bedding. I wish I had a sewing machine! My mom likes to sew but we disagree on style so I never ask her to make me anything LOL.

You both are doing beautiful work! I love it all! I was trying to lay out a quilt last night with all kinds of scraps. You have a great eye for a random quilt there at the bottom. I LOVE how it turned out. Can you come help me!?
