Some more random blabba

We like to play in our house. We tease and poke fun at one another sometimes. It’s all in fun, and we wouldn’t do it if it were hurtful or made anyone sad. Mostly we’ll call one another silly names. For instance, Friday night’s meal consisted of us all calling one another names of things we’d see on the dinner table… Like “Ketchup bottle Head” or “Mustard Booger Picker” or “Greasy Burger Butt”.

But sometimes the inexperienced name callers hurt some feelings…
This morning, Bella called Austin a “Girly”. Then she proceeded to explain what kind of girl he was:

“No, not just a girly. You’re a Booby Girl. You Booby Girl…”

“… No. You’re a girl like a little sprinkly pink poptart kind of girl.”

And I think his feelings might have gotten hurt because teenage boys don’t like to be called girls. Even if they ARE far from girls, are as tall as their really, really tall mother, and have more hair under their arms than their father has on his head.

Ughhh. Sibling rivalry. How mad could he be though? I mean, everyone knows little sisters are obnoxious and annoying sometimes. But isn’t she so dang cute!? Even if she is a Green Pickle Relish Booger Eater.

Last night…

Jeremy took me on the most fantastic date. We try to go out once a month– somewhere nice and quiet, later in the evening when the crowds have died down. It’s so wonderful being able to eat together, taking our time rather than choking our food down… have long, uninterrupted conversations together… no food fights or spilled drinks or temper tantrums or trips to the potty.

I meant to take my camera with me, but forgot it. I suppose that’s good though because instead of taking photos of my food, I just enjoyed every bite. No need to have a flash taking away from the candlelight. We had Frog Legs for an appetizer, Salad, King Crab, and Glazed Roasted Duck. I ordered a Shirley Temple with extra cherries– which seemed to be very funny to the waitress, for some reason. Do we EVER grow out of Shirley Temples? Methinks not.

Other than that, what am I up to? I’ve been having funky dreams, some of them about you guys. I dreamed a few weeks ago that I went to the park with Jenica and had a picnic or something. Last night I dreamed that I went to Meghan’s house and we had a preggers slumber party and ate a bunch of junk food.  But, when I’m not dreaming or feeling sick to my tummy, I’m sewing quilts. I’ll have to post some pics soon. I’m making a really cute gnome rag quilt that’s been testing my patience. I think it might come out really nice when it’s all said and done though.

And I’m still pregnant. :-) I have my first OB appointment on Friday! And I hope to hear a wee little pitter patter heartbeat. I can’t remember if they can hear a heartbeat externally at 10/11 weeks? Does anyone else remember? I’m nearly done with the first trimester, am outgrowing my clothes already, and so ready to get back some energy!
And that’s all for now. Hope you all are well, and make sure you guys aren’t strangers this week. I have a wee little something to show you in a few days!

  2. That’s about as early as you can hear a heartbeat, so sometimes you don’t. But we heard Sam at 10 weeks with a doppler! It was my favorite sound ever.

  3. Those pictures of Bella! She is TOTALLY the cutest Green Pickle Relish Booger Eater in the universe.

As you know, I miss you and think about you all the time. Nothing would make me happier than to have a preggers slumber party with you and stuff our faces. (Did I mention I’m almost as heavy as I was full-term last time pregnancy? Oh yeah, mama… I’ve already passed the 135 mark!)

I will be tuning in every day for updates!

  8. Yay for date nights!!

I was always neurotic about the baby heartbeats that I went and bought one of those thingies that let you hear your baby. I would spend hours listening to them in there… and those terrified moments (like after a fall) when you aren’t sure what’s going on in there, it was super comforting to hear the “wump wump”. Mine was the Bebe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener (at Target for $20)…. I’d fall asleep listening…. I was so nutty!
